Matboards
Take your piece to the next level.
Matting is another way to add a customized look to your framed art. At Ken’s Custom Frames, we have hundreds of matboard colors and textures to choose from. The design possibilities are endless!
Adding a matboard to your piece can serve many purposes, such as:
Highlighting secondary and tertiary colors, and other visual elements within the art
Providing a border or visually pleasing separation between the artwork and its surroundings
Hiding unsightly hinge mounts, corner pockets, and art edges
Coordinating with the décor in the room
Separating the artwork from the glazing (glass) – preventing harmful humidity from building up and causing damage
Keeping “fugitive media” such as charcoals and pastels from making contact with the glass
We understand it can be hard to decide what color, size, and how many mat boards, if any to add. Should you keep it simple and go with white? Or black? Use a bold color to complement your piece? Go for a triple mat? And if so, how much do you show of each color? And what is a weighted bottom and a core?
Our designers can answer all these questions and more and ensure your frame is perfectly designed to fit your style and needs.
